Strymon Magneto is Strymon's first foray into the world of Euroracks. It gives you an advanced simulation of a tape echo with four tape heads. It also works as a sampler and includes a Sound on Sound looper mode, and a host of other features.
- Controls and features:
Dry: Adjusts the output volume level of the dry signal.
Wet: Adjusts the output volume level for the delay repeats.
Rec Level: Adjust the volume level for the incoming signal. As you turn this control towards 5 o'clock, the repeats become thicker and more saturated. Towards 7 o'clock the repeats get cleaner.
Speed/Pitch: Adjust the speed of the virtual tape machine and thus affects the fidelity of the repeats. Towards 5 o'clock you will get clearer repeats and towards 7 o'clock they will get warmer and less defined. Changes in this setting also change the delay length and because of this the changes will alter the pitch inside the delay circuitry. When Magneto is in Pause mode, this control acts as a Scrub tool.
Repeats: Controls the number of delay repeats.
Playback Level 1-4: Adjust the volume levels for different tape heads.
Low Cut: Adjusts the amount of low frequencies in the repeats. At 7 o'clock you will get full bottom end, towards 5 o'clock this will change to a high pass.
Tape Age: Adjusts the age and wear of the virtual tape. At 7 o'clock you will get a high-definition sound of a fresh tape. Towards 5 o'clock the sound gets warmer.
Crinkle: If you so want, with this control you can add artifacts to the sound that are found when using a very worn and badly maintained tape.
Wow & Flutter: Simulates a tape echo with bad fine-tuning as you turn this control towards 5 o'clock. Affects the modulation of the repeats.
Spring: Volume control for spring reverb, which can be added to the repeats.
Modes-button: Chooses between three operating modes: Echo, Loop or Sample.
Tap-nappi: In Echo mode you can adjust the delay tempo by tapping this button. In Loop mode this button controls looper functions. In Sample mode this button controls sampler functions.
Feedback buttons: With these buttons you can turn their respective tape heads on and off. - Power Requirements: +12V rail: 210mA, -12V rail: 210mA, +5V rail: 0mA
